Areinho is a bathing water located in the Ria de Aveiro, an interior lagoon extending parallel to the sea in an east-west direction from Ovar to Mira. The beach is characterized by fine sands and calm waters with muddy bottoms. It is situated in the Municipality of Ovar within the Atlantic Ocean water body.

Water quality classification for 2024 complies with Decreto-Lei 135/09 as amended. No days of bathing prohibition or advisory due to short-term pollution events were recorded in the 2024 bathing season.

Risks

Potential microbiological pollution from diffuse sources of fecal contamination originating in urban activities surrounding the area and solid waste from beach activities. Cyanobacteria: likely potential for proliferation. Macroalgae: unlikely potential for proliferation. Phytoplankton: likely potential for proliferation.
