Water Quality

Water quality classified according to Decree-Law 135/09 (amended by Decree-Law 113/2012). No short-term pollution episodes occurred during the 2024 bathing season. Zero days of bathing advisory or prohibition due to short-term pollution events in 2024.

Risks

Potential microbiological pollution sources include diffuse fecal contamination from surrounding urban activities, solid waste from beach activities, marine litter, and bird colonies. Phytoplankton proliferation is likely. Cyanobacteria and macroalgae proliferation are unlikely.
