Bagnana

Italy Lake 1 - Excellent

Bagnana is a bathing area located on the eastern shore of Lake Como in the municipality of Lezzeno, Lombardia. The beach is modified with a flat layout featuring gravel and stone steps, extending approximately 30 metres in width. The water quality is classified as excellent based on monitoring data from 2019–2022. The bathing area is situated at an altitude of 202 metres above sea level.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is excellent for the reference period 2019–2022. No threshold exceedances for cyanobacterial proliferation have been recorded in the last four years. No previous events of algal or phytoplankton proliferation have been documented.

Risks

Possible short-duration pollution events may result from unfavourable meteorological conditions such as strong atmospheric events, soil washout, water accumulation, and spills of various types. Potential accidental or unauthorised discharges of wastewater or contaminating debris are identified as possible pollution sources. No cyanobacterial growth pressures from anthropogenic activities have been identified. No toxic effects on bathers or lake users have been recorded.
