Gérardmer Lake contains five bathing sites: one developed bathing facility (Union Nautique) and four natural bathing zones (Quai du Locle, Ramberchamp La Tocade, Ramberchamp Kattendycke, Le Lido/le bout du Lac). The lake is a privileged tourist destination in the region, particularly popular during summer months for swimming and water activities. The sites are subject to Type 1 bathing profile requirements under French and European bathing water regulations.

Water Quality

Water quality is subject to sanitary monitoring and classification under European Directive 2006/7/CE. Historical analysis records from 2006–2010 and earlier are available for each bathing zone. Bacteriological analysis results are compared with rainfall data from the preceding 48 hours to assess contamination risk.

Risks

Potential pollution sources have been identified around the lake perimeter. Risk assessment relates to bacterial contamination, with particular consideration of rainfall events affecting pollution risk.
