Bassinig Beach is a bathing water site located in the commune of Plouguerneau in Brittany, France. The beach is situated along a coastal area influenced by Atlantic maritime conditions. The site has been subject to bathing water profile revision as of January 2017 to assess water quality and identify pollution sources. The beach has a main access point with parking facilities at the southern end near oyster farms, and additional smaller access points from private parcels.

Water

Coastal marine bathing water. The Bassinig stream flows into the area. Tidal range includes both spring tide and neap tide conditions with varying extreme water levels.

Location

Plouguerneau commune, Brittany, France. Main access via parking lot at the southern end of the beach near the oyster farms (viviers). Additional smaller access points available from private properties.

Parking at the main access point. Public toilets located at the southern parking area near oyster farms. Information signage present as of 2016.

Monitoring conducted according to EU Bathing Water Directive 2006/7/CE protocols.

Water Quality

Water quality classification and monitoring results are presented in the profile, with quality assessments conducted under Directive 2006/7/CE. Classification simulations for the 2013-2016 period and official 2016 seasonal classification are documented. Bacterial contamination from fecal sources and their persistence in the marine environment have been analyzed.

Risks

Potential pollution sources identified include natural watercourse flows, agricultural activities (livestock grazing, poultry farming), non-collective sanitation installations, collective sewerage systems, stormwater networks, and caravanning areas. Agricultural land, animal farming operations, and individual septic systems present in the watershed.
