The municipality of Plougrescant is located at the eastern tip of the Pink Granite Coast, 6 km north of Treguier and approximately 20 km northeast of Lannion. The northern part of the municipality is bordered by the English Channel, with the eastern part opening onto the Jaudy estuary. Four monitored bathing sites exist within the municipality: Beg Vilin near the campsite, Pors Hir on the eastern coast, Pors Scaff and Gouermel cove on the western coast. The bathing water is classified as good or excellent quality according to European Directive 2006/7/CE based on sanitary controls from the last four seasons. No exceedances of European standards have been recorded since monitoring began.

Water

The English Channel borders the northern part of the municipality. The eastern part opens onto the Jaudy estuary. Four bathing zones are monitored: Gouermel (400 m long, 40 m wide, 11% slope on the first 20 meters and 6% on the last 20 meters, sandy upper beach with small pebbles at lower beach), Pors Hir, Pors Scaff, and Beg Vilin. Oyster farming and fish farming activities are primarily located in the Jaudy estuary.

Location

Plougrescant municipality, 6 km north of Treguier and approximately 20 km northeast of Lannion, Brittany. Four bathing sites: Gouermel (western coast, 400 meters long, 40 meters wide), Pors Hir (eastern coast, with ongoing zone renovation), Pors Scaff (western coast), and Beg Vilin (near a campsite). Public toilets are installed annually at Pors Scaff, Pors Hir, and Gouermel, with effluents directed to a treatment center.

Facilities

Public toilets installed annually at Pors Scaff, Pors Hir, and Gouermel. Public toilets at Pors Hir will be renovated with preservation of existing sanitation systems. Bathing activities include swimming, shellfish gathering, nautical activities such as jet skiing and windsurfing.

Water Quality

Bathing water classification: Type 1 profile, indicating no proven risk of pollution. Water quality is good or excellent according to European Directive 2006/7/CE based on sanitary controls from the last four seasons. No exceedances of European standards have been recorded since monitoring began. Shellfish quality is monitored by IFREMER.
