Plougrescant is a commune located at the eastern end of the Pink Granite Coast, 6 km north of Tréguier and approximately 20 km northeast of Lannion in Brittany. The municipality is bordered by the English Channel to the north and the Jaudy estuary to the east. Four monitored bathing areas exist: Beg Vilin, Pors Hir, Pors Scaff, and Gouermel. The bathing water has been classified as good or excellent quality according to European Directive 2006/7/CE based on sanitary controls over the last four seasons.

Water

The bathing areas are located along the English Channel (La Manche) and the Jaudy estuary. Gouermel beach is 400 metres long and 40 metres wide with a slope of 11% over the first 20 metres and 6% over the last 20 metres. The beach composition includes sand in the upper section and small pebbles in the lower section.

Location

Plougrescant is located 6 km north of Tréguier and approximately 20 km northeast of Lannion. The four bathing areas are distributed along the commune's coast: Beg Vilin on the east coast, Pors Hir on the east coast, Pors Scaff on the west coast, and Gouermel on the west coast.

Facilities

Toilets are installed annually near the bathing zones at Pors Scaff, Pors Hir, and Gouermel. Effluents from portable sanitary cabins are transported to a treatment centre. Pors Hir public toilets are being renovated with preservation of existing sanitation infrastructure.

Water Quality

The bathing water is classified as Type 1 profile, indicating no proven risk of pollution. Water quality has been classified as good or excellent according to European Directive 2006/7/CE based on sanitary controls over the last four seasons. No exceedances of European standards have been recorded since monitoring began.
