Bellaria - Foce Vena 2 is a sandy beach in Bellaria Igea Marina, Rimini, extending over 2 kilometres with a width of 50–70 metres. It is a high-tourism area with 46 beach establishments and constant lifeguard service during the bathing season. The beach is classified as coastal marine water in an alluvial plain with high stability.

Location

Located in Bellaria Igea Marina, Rimini Province, in the Emilia-Romagna region. The beach extends along the central-southern coastal area.

Facilities

46 beach establishments with first aid services, toilets accessible to disabled persons, hot showers, no architectural barriers, food service points, and sports facilities. Two authorized swimming corridors and two piers are present. Lifeguard service operates during the bathing season.

Season

Official monitoring and swimming season is designated as the bathing season (stagione balneare). Profile review scheduled for 2027.

Water Quality

In 2022, an anomalous situation occurred on 26 July when Escherichia coli exceeded legal limits. The measurement was replaced with the first return sample from 27 July for classification purposes. The anomaly was officially recognised by the European Commission on 20 December 2022. No sustained eutrophic phenomena caused by cyanobacteria have been reported in the preceding four years. A Fibrocapsa japonica phytoplankton bloom occurred in July 2022 with no recorded toxic effects.

Risks

Three stormwater discharge outlets (Vena Grande ditch and Via Verdi) are present, though these carry white water with no influence on bathing water quality. During intense rainfall events, the Vena drainage channel may discharge waters from urban and agricultural areas with possible microbiological impact. A phytoplankton bloom (Fibrocapsa japonica) occurred in July 2022.
