Water

Bevertalsperre is a reservoir (Talsperre) with an area of 200 hectares and a catchment area of 10–100 km². Maximum depth is 22.5 meters with a stratified water structure. Water level fluctuates between 2.3 and 3.3 meters. The substrate is rocky with altered shoreline structure. Water renewal time exceeds 30 days. Mean water temperature is 17.6°C (range 11.8–23.3°C), mean pH 8.1 (range 7.7–8.6), mean conductivity 139 µS·cm⁻¹ (range 136–142), and water transparency is 5.7 meters. The water body is oligotrophic.

Location

The bathing water is located in the Oberbergischer Kreis district. The nearest city is Gummersbach. The sampling point is located at UTM coordinates E: 385913 N: 5667702.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is excellent for all four years 2019–2022. The water body is classified as oligotrophic with no relevant pollution burden. No documented contamination exists in sediments (microbiological or chemical). No cyanobacterial blooms have been observed in the past four years, and the risk of future cyanobacterial mass development is low. No cercariae (duck flea) have been detected.

Risks

The risk of future cyanobacterial mass development is assessed as low. Fishing and angling activities have a noted relevance to water quality. Water sports including sailing and motorboats have low relevance to water quality.
