Water

Lingesetalsperre is a reservoir covering 39 hectares with a very small catchment area below 10 square kilometres. Maximum water depth is 18.8 metres. The reservoir has a water exchange time exceeding 30 days. Water transparency reaches 3.3 metres. The water is mesotrophic with naturally moderate nutrient content. Water level fluctuations measure 3.1 metres. The substrate is rocky with stratified water composition.

Location

The bathing area is located at the Lingesetalsperre/DLRG site, managed by the Wupperverband. The nearest city is Gummersbach. The Oberbergischer Kreis administers the site. The beach or shoreline measures 294 metres in length.

Water Quality

The bathing water has been classified as excellent for four consecutive years (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022). pH values range from 7.5 to 9.1 with a mean of 8.1. Conductivity ranges from 157 to 169 µS/cm. No known contamination in sediments exists, either microbiologically or chemically. No relevant pollution sources have been identified that negatively affect water quality.

Risks

No cyanobacterial blooms have been observed within the past four years, though future mass development of cyanobacteria is assessed as moderate risk. Macroalgae including filamentous algae present low risk. Future mass development of phytoplankton is assessed as medium risk. No cercariae (duck flea) causing swimmer's itch have been detected.
