Boeslum Strand

Boeslum Strand is a bathing beach located along Kattegat near Boeslum, stretching from approximately 150 metres south of Dråby Camping to the southern part of the Boeslum summer house area. The beach is 15–20 metres wide and consists of fine sand with stone and gravel edges. The water becomes relatively deep quickly, particularly in the northern section, with depths of 2 metres reached 50–150 metres from shore. The southern part of the beach holds the Green Flag designation for good conditions.

Water

Kattegat coastal water. The beach stretches from Dråby Camping to the Boeslum summer house area. Water depth reaches 2 metres at a distance of 50–150 metres from shore. Strong southward currents frequently occur. Salinity is approximately 25 ‰. Water temperature varies between 10 °C and 22 °C during the bathing season.

Location

Located in Syddjurs Municipality near Ebeltoft, Boeslum. The parking area is situated at Mariendalsvej/Søkjersvej with approximately 150 parking spaces. GPS coordinates: N 56° 12.621', E 10° 44.089' (WGS 84). Access is marked by directional signs.

Facilities

Parking area with approximately 150 spaces; lifeguard equipment (triangle) on the southern part; primitive shelter with tables and benches; ice cream kiosk; public toilet at the ice cream kiosk or at Dråby Strand Camping; waste bins.

Season

Official monitoring season runs from 1 May to 15 September. Water temperature during this period varies between 10 °C and 22 °C.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as 'Excellent'. Monitoring data shows stable conditions with low bacterial levels. Possible short-term pollution sources include faecal contamination, algae (blue-green algae, other microscopic algae, and seaweed), and other causes (oil spills from ships and pollen accumulation). Risk of faecal pollution from wastewater is low. Risk of blue-green algae mass occurrence is very low due to high salinity. Risk of harmful chemical pollution from ships is low.

Risks

Strong southward currents can frequently occur. Blue-green algae, other microscopic algae, and seaweed accumulation are possible but assessed as low risk. Chemical pollution from ship incidents poses a low risk. Pollen accumulation is a recurring phenomenon that can reduce water quality. Dogs must be kept on leads from 1 April to 30 September.
