Vibæk Strand

Vibæk Strand is a narrow sandy beach approximately 20 metres wide located in Ebeltoft Vig north of Ebeltoft, adjacent to a residential area. The beach has a mixed composition of sand and gravel with seaweed accumulation along the waterline. The seabed consists of sand with smaller amounts of gravel and stones, and is muddy in places. The beach is relatively shallow and child-friendly, with a distance of approximately 200 metres to reach a water depth of 2 metres.

Location

Vibæk Strand is located north of Ebeltoft at Lavendelvej in the Ebeltoft Vig bay. Parking is available at the beach with approximately 100 spaces. The access road is signposted. GPS coordinates: N 56° 13.102', E 10° 40.198' (WGS84 decimal: 56.21836, 10.66996).

Facilities

Parking area with approximately 100 spaces. Lifesaving equipment (rescue ring). First aid kit available at Ebeltoft Camping, Nordre Strandvej 23. Information board. Disabled toilet. Waste bins.

Season

1 May to 15 September. Regular water monitoring occurs during this period with 10 samples taken and results posted on the beach.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as Excellent. Stable conditions with low bacterial levels recorded in municipal bathing water analyses. Low risk of short-term faecal contamination from rainfall events.

Risks

Possible short-term faecal contamination from combined sewer overflows during heavy rainfall in Ebeltoft Harbour (two overflows discharge directly to Ebeltoft Vig). Toilet tank emptying from pleasure boats poses low risk. Blue-green algae risk is very low due to high salinity. Small risk of other microalgae blooms. Seaweed accumulation occurs during bathing season. Chemical pollution risk from shipping accidents is low. Pollen accumulation occurs in spring and early summer.
