Bogense Søbad

Bogense Søbad is a bathing facility located on the eastern side of Bogense Harbour facing the Kattegat. The facility was renovated in 2015 and features two sandy beach areas framed by wooden decking, with a bathing pier and accessible ramp for disabled users. The seabed near the pier consists of fine sand with scattered small and medium-sized stones. The surrounding area includes green spaces for recreation and changing facilities.

Water

Brackish water (classified as such) in the Kattegat. The seabed is shallow with water depth under 2 metres at 300 metres from the shore. Current direction is variable with no primary current direction.

Location

Bogense, on the eastern side of Bogense Harbour. Access via Østre Havnevej with parking available. The bathing area is defined around the bathing pier.

Facilities

Bathing pier with accessible ramp for disabled users, changing facilities, toilets, drinking water, warning signs for poor water quality, rubbish bins along the pier and harbour area.

Season

Routine monitoring conducted during the bathing season. Classification reviewed annually in May.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as Excellent (Udmærket) for 2016, based on routine monitoring samples from the 2012–2015 bathing season analysing for E. coli and enterococci indicator bacteria. Under normal circumstances, there is no health risk associated with bathing. No known faecal pollution sources identified in the area.

Risks

Low risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) and phytoplankton blooms. Low risk of macroalgae accumulation since bathing occurs from the pier. Risk of sudden contamination from boat accidents, slurry tanks, and sewer lines. Glass shards and litter may occasionally occur. Very low risk of chemical pollution such as oil spills.
