Contrada Serra is a low sandy beach located within the Gulf of Gela in southeastern Sicily. The beach is 30 metres wide with shallow depths and dune formations. The area features typical Mediterranean scrub vegetation and a dry subtropical climate. The beach is difficult to access and primarily used by local residents.

Channel of Sicily (Canale di Sicilia). The bathing area extends 1.1 kilometres. The beach has a shallow seabed with low-lying sandy conditions.

Acate municipality, Ragusa province, Sicily. The beach is part of coastal area 15 between Capo Scalambri and Licata. Coordinates: latitude 36.9750, longitude 14.3664. The area is unequipped and free of charge.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. The area is subject to urban wastewater from Acate treated at a purification plant and discharged into the Dirillo River. The Marina di Acate fraction lacks a sewage system. Intensive agricultural activities (greenhouse cultivation) are present in the surrounding area.

Risks

Heavy rainfall events can cause soil runoff into bathing waters. Malfunctioning purification plants may contribute to pollution. Untreated urban discharges and intensive agricultural activity (sericulture) are potential pollution sources. Abundant precipitation can cause overflow of drainage into bathing waters.
