Three bathing beaches located on the eastern shore of Lake Parentis-Biscarrosse in the Landes department of southwestern France. The beaches are Calède, Moutéou Pipiou, and Plage du Port. The region experiences a temperate oceanic climate with mild winters and relatively cool summers. The lake is the second largest in the Landes by surface area at 3,345 hectares.

Lake Parentis-Biscarrosse, a freshwater lake covering 3,345 hectares. Water circulation flows predominantly from west to east. Plage du Port: average depth 70 cm (maximum 100 cm), beach dimensions 100 m long and 40 m wide. Moutéou Pipiou: average depth 80 cm (maximum 120 cm), beach dimensions 252 m long and 54 m wide. Calède: beach dimensions 40 m long and 10 m wide. Submerged vegetation (Lagarosiphon major) is present at all three beaches.

Location

Parentis-en-Born, a town of 5,183 inhabitants located 80 km south of Mont de Marsan and Dax, and 80 km northeast of Bordeaux. The bathing zones are situated on the eastern shore of Lake Parentis-Biscarrosse. Parking is available at all three beaches, with access via road, pedestrian pathways, or by boat.

Facilities

Moutéou Pipiou: lifeguards, accessible facilities for persons with reduced mobility, toilets, showers, waste collection, emergency post, signage area. Plage du Port: waste collection, vehicle access by road and pedestrian pathways. Calède: no facilities or equipment, waste collection only.

Season

Early June to mid-September for Moutéou Pipiou and Plage du Port. Calède has no official surveillance.

Risks

Submerged aquatic vegetation (Lagarosiphon major) present at all three beaches in varying densities. Calène beach used for extensive grazing of cattle and horses on adjacent wetland meadows approximately 500 meters from the beach.
