Water Quality

Water quality classification: EXCELLENT (2008-2011). No coastal treatment plants, sea outfalls, or Imhoff tanks are present. No specific monitoring measures or monitoring programs are currently activated.

Risks

The Ligurian Sea is not characterized by cyanobacteria blooms due to preponderant oligotrophic conditions. No cases of potentially toxic algal strain proliferation have been recorded in the last 4 years.
