Casalborsetti - Camping is a bathing water area located on the Emilia-Romagna coast in Ravenna, extending from 160 metres south of the Canale Destra Reno outlet to 220 metres north of the Lamone river outlet. The beach is characterized by campsites and tourist accommodation structures situated on sandy coastline within a vast area of coniferous forest, with stable meadows and irrigated croplands in the hinterland. The beach width is 120–130 metres. The area is classified as coastal marine waters with high alluvial plain stability.

Coastal marine water. Bathing area covers 2.611 km². The area is part of the northern water body zone according to the WISE2022 classification.

Location

Ravenna, Emilia-Romagna region, Italy. The bathing area extends between the outlets of Canale Destra Reno and the Lamone river. Three bathing establishments with first aid services are present in the area.

Monitoring conducted during bathing seasons 2020–2023. Profile review scheduled for 2028.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (reference years 2020–2023). Escherichia coli (90th percentile): 36 CFU/100 ml; Escherichia coli (95th percentile): 47 CFU/100 ml. Intestinal enterococci (90th percentile): 10 CFU/100 ml; Intestinal enterococci (95th percentile): 10 CFU/100 ml. Two pollution episodes were recorded in 2023, caused by flooding in Romagna on 16–17 May 2023. Exceedances of legal limits were documented on 30 May 2023 (both microbiological parameters) and 12 June 2023 (intestinal enterococci only), which were attributed to the flood event. No direct discharge points or watercourses conveying point or diffuse pollution sources discharge into the bathing water.

Risks

Two pollution episodes in 2023 caused by the Romagna flooding event (16–17 May 2023). No cyanobacteria eutrophic phenomena have been reported. No harmful algal bloom events (phytoplankton or macroalgae) were recorded during 2020–2023.
