Conceição is a welcoming beach with extensive sandy areas located in the center of Cascais. At low tide, it connects to Duquesa beach. It is one of the most frequented beaches in Cascais due to its privileged location and excellent access.

Location

Cascais municipality, central location with excellent access. Coordinates: 38.700048°N, 9.416364°W (ETRS89).

Season

May 1st to October 15th, 2024. Weekly sampling frequency during this period.

Water Quality

Water quality classification for 2023 under Decreto-Lei 135/09 of June 3rd, amended by Decreto-Lei 113/2012 of May 23rd. Sampling frequency is weekly. One day of bathing was advised against or prohibited due to short-term pollution in the 2023 bathing season.

Risks

Low risk of short-term pollution (lasting 1-2 days) due to excessive flow from the rainwater drainage network and the proximity of Castelhana stream during precipitation events, or from sewerage network failure. Potential microbiological pollution sources include surface water drainage network and sewerage network failure from the Castelhana stream and the Conceição pumping station. Cyanobacteria, macroalgae, and phytoplankton proliferation are unlikely.
