Costa de Lavos is a bathing beach located on the Atlantic Coast within the CWB-II-3 water body, characterized by energetic and abrasive ocean conditions. The beach is classified as type I, surrounded by a consolidated urban core and subject to strong demand. The coastal front extends 400 meters and is divided into urban and natural sections. The region is influenced by Mediterranean climate characteristics.

May 31 to September 21, 2025. Sampling frequency: once every two weeks.

Water Quality

Water quality classification established according to Decreto-Lei 135/09 (amended by Decreto-Lei 113/2012). No episodes of short-term pollution were recorded. Zero days of bathing advisories or prohibitions due to short-term pollution in the 2024 bathing season.

Risks

Diffuse sources of fecal contamination from surface waters flowing from the north, solid waste from beach activities, marine litter, bird colonies, and high number of users. Cyanobacteria proliferation unlikely. Macroalgae proliferation less likely. Phytoplankton proliferation likely.
