May 31 to September 21, 2025.

Water Quality

Water quality classification for 2024 follows Decreto-Lei 135/09 amended by Decreto-Lei 113/2012. Sampling frequency: once per week. No short-term pollution events occurred during the 2024 bathing season. Potential microbiological pollution sources include diffuse faecal contamination from fresh water inflows north of the bathing area, agricultural field runoff, solid waste from beach activities, ocean waste, river debris, bird colonies, and high user numbers.

Risks

Cyanobacteria and phytoplankton have likely proliferation potential; macroalgae have unlikely proliferation potential. Diffuse sources of faecal contamination exist from fresh water inputs, agricultural runoff, and high user numbers.
