Water Quality

Water quality classification for 2024 according to Decreto-Lei 135/09 (amended by Decreto-Lei 113/2012). Sampling frequency: once every 2 weeks. No history of recurrent short-term pollution episodes. Zero days of bathing advisories or prohibitions due to short-term pollution in bathing season 2024. Potential pollution sources include diffuse fecal contamination from surface waters flowing from the north, solid waste from beach activities, marine litter, bird colonies, and high user numbers. Alert system in place to check water quality conformance and inform bathers of necessary measures.
