Plage du Coupereau is a small semi-open bathing beach in the commune of Carqueiranne measuring 50 metres long and 10 metres wide. The beach has low visitor numbers and experiences acceptable water renewal. It is located in the western part of Carqueiranne's beaches and is surrounded by minimal urbanisation, with proximity to agricultural areas including fields and greenhouses. The site has low potential for cyanobacteria, macroalgae, or phytoplankton proliferation with no history of algal blooms.

Semi-open beach with watershed of 0.9 km². Beach dimensions: 50 metres long by 10 metres wide. Water renewal is acceptable.

Location

Commune of Carqueiranne. Accessible via a country path passing along a non-collective sanitation zone and agricultural area.

Season

15 June to 15 September (2024 summer season). Active management monitoring programme applies during this period.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as Excellent based on DDASS sampling between 2020 and 2024. Site sensitivity level classified as Occasional due to medium vulnerability index and unstable historical DDASS data, despite low visitor frequency. Vulnerability index: Medium. Low potential for algal proliferation.

Risks

Potential pollution sources include: discharge of wastewater into the nearby stream (low risk in dry weather, low risk during rainfall); surface runoff from storm drains fed by natural watershed (low risk in dry weather, low risk during rainfall); potential discharge of untreated wastewater or septic tank overflow from non-collective sanitation installations (unknown risk, attenuated by westerly winds, aggravated by northerly winds). Rainfall events exceeding 20 mm trigger additional monitoring. Expected pollution originates from rainwater discharge events via storm drains or streams, or from non-collective sanitation malfunctions in dry conditions. Pollution events are expected to last no more than 72 hours.
