Cucq is located in northern France. Stella plage is the designated bathing zone within the commune of Cucq, situated at the Authie estuary outlet in the Baie d'Authie unit.

Water quality is classified based on bacteriological concentrations of Escherichia coli and Enterococci measured from 2014 to 2021. Daily concentration data and geometric mean monthly concentrations are tracked. Short-term pollution events are defined and managed through established protocols. Water quality is influenced by precipitation, wind orientation, tidal conditions, and coefficients.

Risks

Identified pollution sources include the Cucq/Merlimont technical treatment unit, stormwater discharge, river inputs, agricultural activities, and camping facilities. Phytoplankton, shellfish microbiological quality, nutrient levels, and macrodebris are subject to additional monitoring. Hydrodynamic conditions including currents, waves, and tidal flows affect water quality and contaminant dispersal.
