This is a fine sand beach with a gentle slope of 3% extending both above and below the waterline, protected by artificial rock breakwaters. The beach has a mean width of 30 metres. The distance between average low water and high water (safe water limit) is approximately 80 metres, with astronomical tides ranging from 30 to 50 centimetres. The surrounding area is part of the peripheral urban zone with a railway line passing through.

Beach establishment with refreshment point and toilet facilities. Animals are permitted.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: E (poor). The area is served by a mixed public sewerage system connected to a treatment plant located in Via Taffetani, Cupra Marittima. The plant is a biological activated sludge treatment facility with a design capacity of 15,000 population equivalents. In 2006 and 2007, the treatment plant showed good efficiency with COD, BOD5, and suspended solids parameters always compliant. Microbiological controls in 2008, 2009, and 2010 were compliant.

Risks

Short-duration pollution events from accidental failures and overflow at the pump station (ex pesa - via Ruzzi). No cyanobacterial proliferation reported. No macroalgae, phytoplankton, or potentially toxic species proliferation reported.
