Davanti Scoglio San Nicola is a rocky coastal bathing area located in Grottammare in the Marche region. The shoreline features rocky cliffs with approximately 80 metres between medium-low and high water levels. Astronomical tidal range is 30–50 centimetres. The surrounding area includes a peripheral part of the urban centre with a railway line passing through.

Rocky coastal area (litorale scogliero) in the Porto San Giorgio–Grottammare water body. Area extends 1.61882 square kilometres.

Bathing establishment (stabilimento balneare) with refreshment point and toilet facilities. Animals are permitted access.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: E (poor). Wastewater treatment: The area is served by a mixed public sewer system connected to a biological activated sludge treatment plant with a design capacity of 35,000 population equivalents, located at C.da S. Leonardo. The receiving water body is the Tesino river. COD, BOD5, and suspended solids parameters were compliant in 2006 and 2007. Microbiological controls in 2008, 2009, and 2010 were compliant.

Risks

Short-duration pollution events from accidental faults and overflow at pump stations (Chalet 44). No cyanobacterial proliferation reported. No macroalgae or phytoplankton proliferation reported.
