Dümmer See is the second-largest inland lake in Lower Saxony, covering approximately 12 square kilometers of water surface. It formed during the Weichsel ice age in a glacier hollow at the edge of an end moraine. The lake is situated picturesquely between Dammer Bergen and Stemweder Berg within the Dümmer Nature Park. With an average depth of only 1.10 meters and maximum depth of approximately 1.40 meters, it is particularly attractive to windsurfers and serves as a family-friendly bathing water. The bathing areas are located on the eastern shore in the towns of Lembruch and Hüde.
