Dümmer See is the second-largest inland lake in Lower Saxony, with a water surface area of approximately 12 square kilometres. It formed during the Weichsel ice age in an ice depression at the edge of an end moraine. The lake is situated in the Dümmer Nature Park, nestled between the Dammer Mountains and Stemweder Berg. With an average depth of only 1.10 metres and a maximum depth of approximately 1.40 metres, it is popular for water sports, particularly windsurfing, and serves as a family-friendly bathing water. The bathing areas are located on the eastern shore in the towns of Lembruch and Hüde.
