Dümmer See is the second-largest inland lake in Lower Saxony, covering approximately 12 square kilometres of water surface. It formed during the Weichsel Ice Age in a glacial depression at the edge of an end moraine and is situated picturesque between the Dammer Mountains and Stemweder Berg within the Dümmer Nature Park. With an average depth of only 1.10 metres and a maximum depth of approximately 1.40 metres, it functions as a water sports venue particularly attractive to windsurfers and serves as a family-friendly bathing water. The bathing sites are located on the eastern shore in the towns of Lembruch and Hüde.
