Estremo Lungomare Sud is a coastal bathing water area located in Amendolara, Calabria. The beach features a pebbly shore with a narrow strip of sand. The seabed has a gentle slope of 1.3% from the waterline to the 5-meter depth contour, with isolated underwater bars and ridges. Medium-grain sediments (larger than 2 mm) characterize the submerged beach area.

Location

Amendolara, Calabria, Italy. The bathing area is situated in front of agricultural and forested land between the urban center of Amendolara and watercourses including the Torrente Straface.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as excellent. The primary watercourses affecting the area are the Torrente Straface and Fosso Carrara. Wastewater treatment is provided by a biological treatment plant located at Amendolara, Pennino. Short-duration pollution events can result from accidental treatment plant failures or system overflow.

Risks

Potential pollution sources include the mouths of the Torrente Straface and Fosso Carrara. Short-duration pollution events may occur due to accidental treatment plant malfunctions or overflow from the biological treatment facility. No harmful algal blooms or cyanobacterial proliferation have been recorded in the preceding four years.
