Equator Cottage is a bathing water area located on the Calabrian coast in the municipality of Amendolara. The beach is stony with a seabed slope of approximately 1.3% from the shoreline to the 5-metre isobath. The sediments are medium-grained with particles larger than 2 millimetres. The water body is classified as coastal.

Coastal waters. Bathing area extends 1.397 square kilometres. Stony beach with medium seabed slope of 1.3% from shoreline to 5-metre depth. Medium-grain sediments (>2 mm). Single underwater bars or ridges present.

Location

Amendolara, Cosenza province, Calabria region. The bathing area is situated opposite agricultural land to the north of the Torrente Avena stream.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. The Fosso Potresino stream is identified as a potential source of pollution impact. Wastewater treatment measures and specific pollution control measures are not currently active.

Risks

Short-duration pollution events from rainwater runoff in agricultural areas have been identified. No cyanobacterial blooms or algal proliferation have been recorded in the sea or inland waters over the past four years.
