The Plage du Village de Vacances is located in Mèze, in the Hérault department on the shores of Étang de Thau. The beach extends approximately 250 meters and features fine sand that is artificially maintained with imported sand before each bathing season. Rocky groynes have been added to the beach. The maximum water depth is approximately 4.5 meters.

Étang de Thau (lagoon), approximately 250 meters long beach, maximum depth 4.5 meters. Fine sand beach with rocky groynes.

Location

Mèze, Hérault department, south of the town center. The beach is situated on the waterfront of the holiday village (village de vacances), bordered by the sailing school port on one side and the Mèze departmental port on the other. Parking available at Les Tonneliers, located north of the beach.

Facilities

Lifeguard post (poste de secours), water point connected to sanitation system via the lifeguard post during summer season, parking at Les Tonneliers north of beach, promenade, children's play area.

Season

Official bathing season monitoring conducted. Beach profile review required every two years.

Water Quality

Official monitoring conducted by ARS (Health Authority). The bathing water was classified as insufficient quality according to directive 2006/7/CE based on results from four consecutive bathing seasons. Monitoring results available from 2007 to 2015. Profile type 3: contamination risk is confirmed and causes are insufficiently known.

Risks

Contamination risk identified. Monitoring programs in place for cyanobacteria episodes, jellyfish invasions, green algae proliferation, Ostreopsis spp, swimmer dermatitis cases, hydrocarbon deposits and floating materials.
