Coastal bathing area. The water body is influenced by tidal conditions, currents, and wave action. The area connects to water bodies including the Quilles Canal and Sète Canal.

Water Quality

Water quality is monitored through self-monitoring (autosurveillance) conducted by SDEI during summer seasons. Monitoring data from 2008 to 2010 has been analysed. Short-term pollution events have been documented. The bathing area is subject to microbiological monitoring.

Risks

Potential risks include cyanobacteria proliferation, phytoplankton blooms, macroalgae, jellyfish, macro-debris pollution, and hydrocarbon pollution. The area is vulnerable to urban wastewater discharges, stormwater runoff from separate and combined sewer systems, agricultural runoff, and bird-related pollution. Storm overflow structures and potential network failure points have been identified as sources of contamination.
