Location

Blainville-sur-Mer commune, facing the RD244 road. Located in the Manche department of Normandy, France.

Water Quality

Water quality is monitored for faecal contamination indicators (bacterial markers). Historical monitoring conducted under Directive 76/160/CEE and new classifications simulated under Directive 2006/7/CEE. Target quality level of 'sufficient' was set for 2015. Bacterial flux dispersion modelled using hydrodynamic simulation (MARS-2D).

Risks

Identified pollution sources include domestic wastewater (collective and non-collective sewerage), rainwater discharges, agricultural activities, artisanal and industrial activities, port and mooring zone activities, camping and caravan sites, and resuspension of sediments in the Blainville havres.
