Pointe d'Agon is a bathing beach located in the commune of Agon-Coutainville. The beach is subject to monitoring under the Bathing Water Directive 2006/7/CE. The bathing zone is influenced by various hydrographic features including the Sienne and Soulles rivers, as well as coastal discharge points. Water quality monitoring has been conducted with historical data tracked since at least 2013.

Agon-Coutainville commune. The bathing area is located at Pointe d'Agon.

Water Quality

Bathing water quality has been classified according to Directive 2006/7/CEE. The water body has been subject to fecal contamination monitoring through indicator germs. Bivalve harvesting zones and recreational shellfish gathering areas in the vicinity are also monitored for bacteriological quality.

Risks

Potential pollution sources identified include collective and non-collective sanitation systems, stormwater discharges, agricultural activities with livestock pressure, artisanal and industrial activities including slaughterhouses and shellfish farming facilities, ports and anchorages, camping and mobile home areas, sediment resuspension in Regnéville haven, and seasonal fairground and festival activities. Sheep grazing impacts on salt marsh vegetation have been documented.
