Fladstrand, Ved Høll

Fladstrand v. Høll is a bathing beach located on the north side of Vejle Fjord, approximately 3 km east of Vejle city. The beach extends for about 200 metres and consists of white sand with smaller stones, approximately 20 metres wide. It has a relatively low water depth. A maintained grass area borders the sandy beach. The water is classified as excellent based on data from 2018–2021.

Located on the north side of Vejle Fjord, approximately 3 km east of Vejle city. UTM zone 32; coordinates 546999 east, 6165893 north. Station number 9290, DKBWid 1262.

Official monitoring season: 1 June to 15 September.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as excellent (based on 2018–2021 data). Monitoring conducted during bathing season (1 June to 15 September). Risk of phytoplankton growth assessed as small, with highest risk in late summer. Cyanobacteria blooms can occur, typically after heavy rainfall followed by warm periods. Short-term pollution from overflow of diluted wastewater may occur during heavy prolonged rainfall, typically lasting maximum 3 days after rain ceases. Water clarity measured at sampling.

Risks

Risk of cyanobacteria blooms producing toxic substances causing headaches, skin irritation, fever, nausea and diarrhoea. Macroalgae (seaweed) can accumulate in beach margins; bathing is discouraged near large quantities due to potential toxin formation in decaying material and bacterial survival. Phytoplankton blooms possible. Glass shards, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills occasionally occur. Weakened individuals and children are particularly vulnerable to cyanotoxins.
