Hvidbjerg Strand is a bathing beach approximately 200 metres long located on the north side of Vejle Fjord, about 3 kilometres east of Vejle city. The beach comprises white sand and small stones about 20 metres wide, backed by a mowed grass area with relatively low water depth. The water is classified as excellent based on data from 2018–2021.

Location

Located on the north side of Vejle Fjord approximately 3 kilometres east of Vejle by. UTM zone 32; east 536479; north 6173323. Station number 9295.

Season

Official monitoring season: 1 June to 15 September.

Water Quality

Water classified as excellent (2018–2021 data). Monitoring conducted during bathing season (1 June to 15 September). Fecal pollution from bathers not significant due to rapid water exchange. Pollution from grazing livestock and slurry application not significant.

Risks

Algae bloom risk: cyanobacteria blooms can occur, particularly after heavy rain followed by warm periods. Phytoplankton growth risk assessed as low, highest in late summer. Macroalgae (seaweed) can accumulate at beach edge; bathing discouraged near large quantities of washed-up seaweed due to potential toxin production and bacterial survival. Short-term pollution from heavy rainfall can cause sewage overflow lasting up to 3 days. Other occasional pollution includes glass shards, waste, and chemical contamination including oil spills.
