Foce Agri is a sandy beach bathing area located 1500 metres south of the Agri River mouth in Policoro, Basilicata. The surrounding area features a lagoon village and tourist port development based on the recovery of a former fish farming facility. The bathing zone is monitored monthly during the official season.

Location

Policoro, Matera Province, Basilicata region. The sampling point is situated 1500 m south of the Agri River mouth at coordinates 40.214273 -16.737961. The bathing area extends from 40.217430 -16.739200 to 40.206183 -16.734146.

Season

Monitoring period: 1 April – 30 September. Official bathing season: 1 May – 30 September.

Water Quality

Classification period: 2017–2020. No swimming bans were in effect during the 2020 bathing season.

Risks

A non-bathing zone of 40 metres width exists along the river mouth discharge area.
