Bernalda Lido is a bathing area located in the Basilicata region comprising three nuclei: Basento, Centro, and Bradano. The beach is situated inland behind a pine forest and state-owned forestry areas. In 2018, the area received the Blue Flag international recognition. The bathing area extends from the Basento river to the border with the Puglia region.

Coastal bathing area at the mouth of the Basento river. The non-bathing zone at the river mouth covers a width of 380 metres at the mouth axis.

Location

Bernalda, Province of Matera, Basilicata region. The sampling point is located in the northern zone near the mouth of the Basento river at coordinates 40.341347 -16.822353. The bathing area extends from coordinates 40.343634 -16.824005 to 40.335299 -16.817040.

Blue Flag beach.

Season

1 May to 30 September. Monitoring period: 1 April to 30 September.

Water Quality

Water quality classification period: 2017–2020. Monthly sampling frequency. Blue Flag award received in 2018. No bathing bans were in place during the 2020 bathing season.
