Bernalda Lido is a bathing area in the Basilicata region comprising three nuclei: Basento, Centro, and Bradano. The beach is situated on a forested area backed by pine groves on municipal land, located between the Basento river and the border with Puglia region. The area received the international Blue Flag award in 2018.

Coastal marine water in the Ionian Sea.

Location

Bernalda, province of Matera, Basilicata region. The sampling point is located 50 metres north of the Metaponto water pumping station at coordinates 40.361602 -16.839562.

Season

1 May–30 September. No bathing prohibitions were in effect during the 2020 swimming season.

Water Quality

Water quality classification period: 2017–2020. Received Blue Flag international recognition in 2018. Monthly sampling frequency during monitoring period 1 April–30 September.

Risks

Non-bathing zone exists at the discharge of the Consorzio di Bonifica Canal–Metaponto Idrovora, 50 metres north margin, with a width of 40 metres centered on the outlet.
