The Impisi river mouth bathing water is located along the Sicilian coast near Alì Terme. It consists of a sandy-pebbly beach that extends in a predominantly straight line. The beach width varies between 15 and 55 metres. The area is classified as excellent quality and experiences low stability conditions.

Coastal marine water. Beach area extends approximately 1 kilometre. Sandy-pebbly beach with widths ranging from 15 to 55 metres. No significant erosion variations detected.

Location

Alì Terme, Messina Province, Sicily. The bathing water extends from Capo Scaletta to Torre Archirafi. Centre coordinates: 38.015201°N, 15.437142°E.

Facilities

Public free showers. Refreshment points and boat rental services available in the immediate hinterland.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. Bathing is prohibited from the Fiumedinisi torrent mouth to the discharge point of the Nizza di Sicilia municipal wastewater treatment facility at Alì Terme and Fiumedinisi, located 100 metres north of the Fiumedinisi torrent mouth. Wastewater treatment is provided by a consortium treatment plant located in Nizza di Sicilia. Raw sewage discharge occurs during heavy rainfall events and when white water from the Alì torrent enters the bathing water.

Risks

Accidental malfunction of the consortium wastewater treatment facility. Beaching of materials and waste transported by marine currents along the entire coastal stretch, resulting in floating refuse. Short-duration pollution events occur during meteorological conditions, tourist influx, and periodic Messina Strait currents. No cyanobacteria proliferation events reported. No harmful algal bloom cases reported.
