Foce torrente Mastroguglielmo is a bathing area located in Alì Terme, Sicily, consisting of a sandy-pebbly beach that extends in a predominantly straight line. The beach is approximately 50–60 metres wide with low stability. No significant erosion variations of the shoreline have been detected.

Water

Coastal marine water in a flat coastal plain. The bathing area extends 1.4 km along the coast. The water body is defined by the hydrographic district of Sicily between the Fiumedinisi and Capo Peloro basins.

Location

Facilities

Free public showers. Refreshment points (kiosks and bars) and boat rental services operate in the immediate hinterland. No restrictions or specific prohibitions on animal access are in place.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. Bathing water profile date: 01/12/2017, reviewed in 2018. Identified pollution sources include wastewater discharge from the Consortile treatment plant in Nizza di Sicilia and the municipality of Alì Terme.

Risks

Short-term pollution events may occur due to accidental sewage treatment plant failure, beaching of materials and waste transported by marine currents (floating debris), and meteorological conditions combined with tourist influx and Strait of Messina currents. No cyanobacterial proliferation events have been recorded. No harmful algal bloom events have been reported.
