Freizeitanlage Aasee Bocholt is an artificial recreational lake designated as a bathing water since 1989. The lake covers 32 hectares with a sandy bottom and shoreline. Water

Artificial lake of 32 hectares. Maximum depth is 4 metres with a mean depth of 2 metres. Water exchange time exceeds 30 days. The lake receives inflow from the Bocholter Aa via a weir structure that opens only during flood events. Catchment area is between 100–1000 km². Geology is sandy with sandy substrate. Water body is unlaminated.

Bocholt, Germany. The bathing area has a shoreline length of 140 metres. Coordinates: E 337521, N 5744605 (UTM).

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2020–2023). pH average 8.5 (range 8.1–9). Conductivity average 482 µS/cm (range 441–499). Natural nutrient content is eutrophic level II. No relevant pollution sources identified. No microbiological, chemical, or structural contamination in sediments.

Risks

Occasional bird-related impacts on water. Zercariae (duck flea causing bather's itch) reported occasionally. Cyanobacteria water blooms observed within the last four years; future mass development assessed as possible. Macroalgae (filamentous algae) occur rarely. Future phytoplankton mass development assessed as possible.
