Geluvos ežero maudykla is a public bathing beach located in Šiauliai District, Lithuania, within the Dubysos river sub-basin. The beach is 250 meters long with a natural shoreline composed of sand and grass. Average water depth is 0.90 meters, with a maximum depth of 1.95 meters. The beach has a capacity of approximately 250 people during peak season under favorable weather conditions.

Water

Lake (Geluvos ežeras) in the Dubysos sub-basin of the Nemuno river basin. Average annual discharge in the basin is 8.35 cubic meters per second. Average annual rainfall in the basin is 611 millimeters, with highest precipitation in August and lowest in May.

Šiauliai District, Bubių seniūnija (administrative unit), Lithuania. Coordinates: 55.7983°N, 23.1027°E.

Facilities

One toilet. Basketball court. Waste management with three containers emptied daily during the season. Pets are prohibited from the beach and swimming area.

Water Quality

Water quality has met excellent quality standards continuously from 2018 to 2024 in compliance with EU Directive 2006/7/EB. No concentrated pollution sources have been identified in the impact zone. Diffuse pollution sources may include surface rainwater runoff. Water transparency monitoring has been conducted. Eutrophication impact on water quality is attributed to natural causes.

Risks

Short-term pollution is possible due to improper behavior by residents or visitors, or during heavy rainfall; such pollution typically disappears within 1–2 days after rain ceases. During summer with high air and water temperatures, potential negative effects on lake flora and fauna may occur.
