Water Quality

Water quality classified as excellent (reference years 2015–2018). Escherichia coli at 90th percentile: 15 CFU/100 ml, at 95th percentile: 17 CFU/100 ml. Intestinal enterococci at 90th percentile: 14 CFU/100 ml, at 95th percentile: 22 CFU/100 ml. No variations in water quality were observed across bathing seasons 2015–2018. No short-duration pollution events were recorded in 2015, 2016, 2017, or 2018.

Risks

The Servola treatment plant with submarine outfall poses potential long-distance impact. The Grignano tourist harbour area is identified as a potential pollution source. No cyanobacterial eutrophic phenomena have ever been reported. No proliferation of potentially toxic algal strains or elevated concentrations of potentially toxic species have been detected.
