Water Quality

Water quality is classified as Excellent (reference years 2015–2018). Escherichia coli at 90th percentile: 10 CFU/100 ml, at 95th percentile: 10 CFU/100 ml. Intestinal enterococci at 90th percentile: 14 CFU/100 ml, at 95th percentile: 22 CFU/100 ml. No variations in water quality were observed during bathing seasons 2015–2018. No short-duration pollution events were recorded in 2015, 2016, 2017, or 2018.

Risks

The Servola wastewater treatment plant with submarine outfall represents a potential long-distance impact source. No sustained eutrophic phenomena caused by cyanobacteria have been reported. No toxic algal bloom events or elevated concentrations of potentially toxic species have been detected.
