Großer Woog is a shallow reservoir lake located on the eastern edge of Darmstadt's city centre, fed by the Darmbach stream. The lake has been used for bathing since 1820 and covers 6 hectares with a maximum depth of 4.05 metres and an average depth of 1.9 metres. Access is provided via a designated public beach at the northern shore, with additional facilities including a diving tower, concrete jetties, a bathing island, water slide, and sunbathing meadow. The bathing spot attracts between 80 and 2,000 visitors daily during the season.
