Langener Waldsee is a large gravel pit lake with a surface area of 89.1 hectares located approximately 12 kilometres south of Frankfurt. The lake is surrounded by forest and lies northwest of Langen and east of Walldorf directly adjacent to the B44 highway. It is one of the most popular and frequently visited lakes in the Rhine-Main region, used for bathing, fishing, sailing, and windsurfing, and serves as the swimming venue for Ironman Germany in Frankfurt. The lake has maximum depths of 19.2 metres and average depths of 8.6 metres, with steep shores that make water access available only through designated bathing beaches.
