Gudmindrup Lyng

Gudmindrup Lyng is a fine sandy beach located just north of Korevlerne in Odsherred Municipality's largest summer cottage area, Lyngen. The beach extends approximately 500 metres and consists of a sand area about 30 metres wide. The bathing water is classified as excellent quality based on data from 2017–2021. The water is brackish, a mixture of salt and fresh water. The beach is situated in a nature-protected area with summer houses in the surrounding area.

Water

Brackish water body. The beach is approximately 500 metres long and 30 metres wide. Water depth measurements: approximately 20 metres to reach 0.5 metres depth, over 50 metres to reach 1 metre depth, and 150 metres to reach 2 metres depth. Current direction is variable, most commonly from north or south.

Location

Gudmindrup Lyng is accessed via Gudmindrup strandvej. A parking area with information board is located at the end of the road. The nearest town is Gudmindrup.

Facilities

Parking area, information board, blue flag, toilets, disabled toilet, waste sorting facilities, waste bins, telephone on beach, waste bins, lifesaving and first aid equipment, and a lifeguard.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (based on 2017–2021 data). Overschridences of pollution thresholds are very rare and minor when they occur. Fecal pollution sources include several outlets around the bathing site receiving wastewater from various sources and combined sewer overflows. Pollution duration in summer is typically short (1–3 days depending on weather, current, and wind).

Risks

Risk of cyanobacteria and phytoplankton growth is low. Risk of macroalgae growth is medium. Bathing is discouraged if water is unclear and feet cannot be seen when water reaches knee level. Children should not play or bathe near algae washed ashore as toxins can form in decomposing algae and bacteria can survive for extended periods. Glass fragments, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills may occasionally occur.
