Hvide Klint is a bathing area located at a bathing bridge extending a considerable distance into the fjord near Frederiksværk. The water is generally shallow in the fjord. The beach is surrounded by urban development and a steel works harbor. Water quality has been classified as excellent based on 16 samples collected between 2018 and 2021.

Water

Fjord water body with a sandy and muddy bottom. The water is generally shallow. Current direction is predominantly north-south, coinciding with the dominant wind direction.

Location

Located at Frederiksværk in Halsnæs Municipality. Access is available from a parking area at the end of Poul Rasmussens Vej or from Bakkestien. An information board is installed below the parking area.

Facilities

Bathing bridge available during bathing season. Parking area at the end of Poul Rasmussens Vej. No lifeguards. No disabled access facilities. Information board present.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent based on 16 samples from 2018-2021. Historical classifications show the bathing area has been rated excellent or good since 2014. Water quality deterioration is associated with heavy rainfall events, with an average of 1 measurement per season showing reduced quality during 2014-2017. Pollution sources are primarily rainfall-related wastewater overflows from sewage systems.

Risks

Risk of cyanobacteria blooms is low. Risk of phytoplankton growth is small. Risk of macroalgae (seaweed) is present. Heavy rainfall can cause pollution and bathing is not recommended for 3 days after heavy rainfall or cloudbursts. Seaweed can release toxic substances and harbor disease-causing bacteria. Occasional hazards include litter, glass shards, dead animals, and oil spills.
