St. Havelse Strandvej is a bathing spot located at the end of St. Havelse Strandvej in Halsnæs Kommune, Denmark. The beach features a stony sand strand with generally shallow water and is part of an overnight route along the fjord. The water is classified as Excellent quality based on 16 samples collected between 2018 and 2021. A small shelter accommodates up to two overnight visitors near the beach.

Fjord water body with shallow depth. The seabed is sandy. The dominant current flows from west to east.

Location

St. Havelse, at the end of St. Havelse Strandvej in Halsnæs Kommune. A small parking area is available at the beginning of St. Havelse Strandvej, where an information board is posted.

Facilities

No lifeguards. No disabled access facilities. No bathing pier. Small parking area at the start of St. Havelse Strandvej. Overnight shelter with capacity for two people. Information board on-site.

Season

Monitoring occurs year-round at a frequency of 4–5 samples per year, with evaluation building on the current and preceding 3 years of data.

Water Quality

Water is classified as Excellent quality. Analysis based on 16 samples from 2018–2021 shows consistently good results. Historical data shows the bathing water was classified as Good or Excellent since 2001. Brief periods of slightly degraded water quality have been observed following heavy rainfall, but concentrations remain low and pose no health risk. The cause is unknown but may be related to discharge or seepage from the unsewered summer house area inland.

Risks

Cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms can occasionally occur and may produce toxic substances causing headaches, skin irritation, fever, nausea, and diarrhea in swimmers or those who ingest water. Large seaweed beds occasionally wash ashore; bathing near decayed seaweed is not recommended as rotting seaweed can release toxins and protect disease-causing bacteria from UV radiation. Phytoplankton growth risk is considered low. Littered waste, glass shards, dead animals, and oil spills may occasionally occur.
